About Me

Years ago, when World of Warcraft was first released, I vowed I wouldn’t play it. I tend to get overzealous with things like this - and I didn’t want to end up playing this game day and night.

I worked in a retail store at the time, and everyone I worked with started playing. Day in, day out, all I heard was, “WoW, WoW, WoW!” This continued barrage wore down my will and after holding out for quite some time I finally downloaded and installed the game.

Why Alliance On a Roleplaying Server?

Picture of my Human Mage, Walkere, on the character loading screen.I rolled my first character - a Human Mage named Walkere - on the roleplaying server Earthen Ring.

Why, you ask? Simple. Because all my friends had done the same thing.

Although many of us had thought about playing on PVP servers and/or playing Horde characters, we all followed the first person in the group to start playing. He joined Earthen Ring and rolled Alliance - so they all followed suit. Naturally, I wanted to play with all of my friends, so I also rolled Alliance.

It was fun for a time. My Mage hit 70, we raided Karazhan. I took over some raid leadership and we cleared Gruul and attempted Mag’s.

I also leveled a Paladin to 70. My philosophy has always been that if you want your guild to supply you with tanks and healers - you’d better supply the guild with one or the other. Sythrick made it to 70, tanked and healed through Karazhan, and caught a glimpse of Gruul.

Then, I hit the wall. I had been playing a lot for 8 months. In that time, I’d gotten two characters to 70 and gotten them raid-worthy. I was leading some of the guild raids and putting in a lot of time.

I was also about to start working in a real job - teaching - so I decided to call it quits. Sometimes you need to focus on real life.

Rolling Horde - Two Years Too Late

Picture of my Blood Elf Hunter, Syllvain, at the character loading screen.I left WoW and successfully fended off the urge for six months. I had other things to focus on - my new job, my marriage, real life.

But every week, I went out with the old gang. Every week, they talked about WoW. The new patch, the raid progress, the guild drama. Non-stop.

One day, another guy that had temporarily left the game (more than once) announced that he was back. He had decided to roll a Horde character and focus on PVP. Potentially less time consuming, and less drama and commitment than a raiding guild.

Thus, Two Years Too Late was born. He and a few of the other guys rolled Horde characters and created the guild. We all had a desire to be Horde from the beginning - and now we were, just a few years too late.

I eventually got the urge to play again, so I downloaded the client, rolled up a Blood Elf Hunter, and started levelling. Syllvain is quickly climbing the ranks, and within a couple months he should be running around the battlegrounds tearin’ it up.
