Success and Loots in SSC

Our SSC group is starting to make some real progress. This Saturday, we headed into SSC, got started on time, and proceeded to one-shot Hydross, Lurker, and Morogrim.

That’s pretty good progress considering two weeks ago we were flubbing up on both Hydross and Lurker, and last week was the first time we downed Morogrim (after several hours). There were still a few sloppy errors on trash, but the raid is shaping up into a more respectable organization. Hopefully this will continue as we progress.

The most exciting part of the night? Loots for me. Morogrim dropped a Ring of Sundered Souls, which I love. It allowed me to replace my blue Elementium Band of the Sentry from Arcatraz, and is a perfect complement to my brand new badge ring, Ring of the Stalwart Protector.

With these first three bosses down in under two hours, we were ready to move on. Except none of us had planned for this contingency. We decided to clear the trash to Warlord Karathress, read up on the strat, consult with some friends who’d been there before, and give it a try.

We made it to Karathress and got a few solid attempts in on him. On our best attempt, we cleared the three adds and got Karathress to 85% or so. We’d lost some DPS early, and we didn’t have enough left to take the totems out in a timely manner… leading to a downward spiral of raid death.

I think we’ve got a better grasp of the fight, though, so next week should hopefully go better. If we don’t kill him, we should at least get much closer.

On a side note, going to Kara with undergeared newbs is the suck. I went with a friend’s group to finish out their raid, post-Curator. In the past, it’s been a decently geared group… not so this week. I had a Druid healing me that didn’t know how to stack a lifebloom. The feral druid kept thinking he was supposed to tank, despite repeated suggestions that he DPS in cat form.

And for a while, I was #4 on the DPS charts, beating out a Rogue and a Hunter. /facepalm.
