Progress In SSC - Now 4/6, FLK Dead

Saturday night we headed into SSC and sloughed off our unlucky week. We had a bit of a slow start, since one person was a no show and a couple people were having connection problems.
We cleared to Hydross pretty quickly, and we all took up our usual positions. I’ve finally settled into a set of items that I wear for tanking the adds on the Hydross fight. For resistance, I swap in Iceguard Leggings (with the +Stami/Agi enchant) and the Wildguard Breastplate (with +8 NR), and I quaff a Flask of Chromatic Wonder. This brings me up to roughly 165 of each resistance, which seems to do nicely.
The fight went pretty smoothly, up until I died on the last add phase. Not sure what happened. I gathered up all four adds, started consecrating, and suddenly… splat. I’m thinking either I hit an unlucky string of hits, or the healers slacked up for a second. Those first few seconds of add-tanking can include a lot of spike damage, and it only takes a few seconds to squash a tank when you’re not looking.
Anyhow, he went down. No loots for me. We cleared to Lurker, he went down. No loots for me.
We moved on to Morogrim. On the way there, I accidentally pulled two of the packs of Murlocs. I did pretty well tanking a bunch of them, but eventually I went down and the rest of the raid followed. Oops!
During the Tidewalker fight, we had a lot more trouble with the Murlocs than we did last week. When we moved up into the hallway towards the end of the fight, they kept diverting off - sometimes onto melee, not just healers. It took us a few attempts, but we finally got it. I’m gonna have to read up some more on the fight to see if I can figure out what the heck happened with those murlocs.
This leads into the exciting part. It’s 11:30. It’s late. I’m thinking, “We should call it and come back tomorrow.” The Raid Leader wants to press on, and she takes a ready check to vote. I vote yes, because, well, I can’t say no to more killing, but 6 other people do say no. She convinces them to forge ahead, and promises we’ll only take one or two shots at Fathom Lord Karathress.
We clear the trash, including the pat on the way to Leo on the other side of FLK’s room. We sit down to buff up, and I jump in with the explanation.
I laid it out nice and simple. I tank the Hunter, ignore the pet. Kill the pet when the hunter is dead. Kill the Shaman next, and always kill the Spitfire totems. Then move on to the Priestess, who is on the other side of the room. Our Shaman over there is in charge of shocking the Healing Waves. She dies, we move on to FLK, kill Spitfire totems, and collect loot.
We spent a couple more minutes sorting out healing assignments and, to my surprise, it worked! Everyone did their job. We killed the totems quickly, and the Priestess didn’t get many heals off. The adds went down like clockwork, and we moved over and slowly burned down FLK.
Gee, I love it when a plan comes together.
