If I Have Mana, I Can Pull

I’m a Paladin. I have a mana pool. My healer has a mana pool. So it really irks me when the DPS complains about not having any mana.

For example… I was running Heroic Shattered Halls yesterday. I was with two guildies (a Holy Priest and a Feral Druid) and two pugs (a Boomkin and an Elemental Shaman). After a couple pulls, the Elemental Shaman said, “I’m out of mana.” To which I gave my usual response, “So sit and drink.”

A few moments later, since he hadn’t responded, I simply said, “I don’t wait for the DPS.” The Shammy didn’t seem to understand why. He thought that since I had no rage to conserve, there was no reason to rush. Why would I want to waste time in between every pull, and drag a 45 minute Shattered Halls into an hour and a half affair?

My standard rule is to wait until I have enough mana to pull - usually 50-75% - and the healer has enough mana to heal - which depends on the size of the pull. If the DPS needs mana, they can simply sit and drink. I always have mana biscuits, since I bring my old mage around to summon them, so there’s no reason that the DPS shouldn’t be sitting down immediately after the fight is over.

This helps move the run along. There is very little downtime. The DPS drinks what they need, gets up, and does some damage. It also gives me some time to build some threat. Otherwise those casters like to lob some bombs as soon as my Avenger’s Shield hits… which occasionally leads to them going *splat*.

It also annoys me that they complain about mana at all. My 6k mana pool is gone in the blink of an eye, and in most Heroics I don’t take enough damage to replenish that with Spiritual Attunement. Chances are I use up way more mana on the average pull than the DPS. Learn to drink.

By the by, I found this Youtube video over on Need More Rage. Funny stuff, and somewhat relevant. Mana mana.
