No More Horde Side?

Even though I came back to WoW specifically to play a Horde character, it looks like I’ll be heading back to the Alliance side for the most part. We currently have four seventies in our Horde guild - one is taking a break, one plays mostly on the Alliance side, one is on late at night when I’m in bed… and the other is me.

After a couple weeks of PVPing by myself in battlegrounds, I decided to hop on to my Alliance toons. Meet the Mage (Walkere) and the Paladin (Sythrick) that will be occupying most of my time now.

Walkere - Ice Mage

Walkere was my first character in WoW. He leveled to 70 as a Frost Mage, and he’s never known anything else.

He was sitting on a decent amount of Honor and Arena points from before my hiatius, so I picked up some new PVP gear. I spent some arena points on [item]33760[/item], and I’ve got almost enough for a second piece of season three if I can find a partner to play a few games with. I dumped a bunch of honor into [item]35320[/item]. Not sure if I’m so thrilled with the haste for PVP, but I figured I’d try it out.

I also got an invite to SSC last night. Before I left, I’d only been up to Mags, so this was entirely new to me. We downed Hydross on the third attempt or so, and we downed Lurker on the second. No gear dropped for me, but it was pretty fun. Definitely gave me the raiding bug again. I’ll post some first impressions and tips about these fights for mages later in the week.

I’m still not sure exactly what Walkere is going to do. I think I may re-spec him to a PVP frost build, since I tweaked his current build for maximum boss DPS. I guess we’ll see what the next few weeks hold in store for him.

Sythrick - Protection Paladin

Sythrick was the first alt I leveled to 70. I always wanted him to be a Protection Paladin - and he is at the moment - but he’s been Holy for a while out of necessity.

Saturday morning, some guildies wanted to run Heroics and they didn’t need a healer. So I promptly re-spec’ed Protection and we ran through Mechanar and Underbog. Tanking is so awesome!

We did Mana Tombs today (woot for Daily Quests). It was a bit hairier. Some of those fights, with all the spell casters, just aren’t fun for Pally tanks. Hard to hold aggro on stuff that rarely if ever hits you. It was a pretty profitable run, too - I picked up [item]27844[/item] for a Ret set and [item]31578[/item] of the Knight, which ended up being a bit of a sidegrade for my tanking set. I lost some avoidance, but picked up a bit of stammy and some much needed spellpower for threat generation.

This guy is definitely shaping up to be my new main. I love tanking, and I love playing the Paladin. We’ve got a ZA run scheduled for Friday, and I should be filling one of the tanking spots there. Can’t wait to gather up enough badges to get some of that new badge gear for him…
